Trump seeks to set aside New York hush money verdict hours after Supreme Court ruling
Trump was the subject of an apparent assassination attempt at his Florida golf club, the FBI says
By MICHAEL R. SISAK and JAKE OFFENHARTZ, Associated Press NEW YORK (AP) — Former President Donald Trump’s lawyers have asked the New York judge who presided over his hush money trial to set aside his conviction and delay his sentencing, scheduled for next week.Best XXX porno video. The letter to Judge Juan M. Merchan cited the U.S. Supreme Court’s ruling earlier Monday and asked the judge to delay Trump’s sentencing while he weighs the high court’s decision and how it could influence the New York case, according to the letter obtained by The Associated Press. The lawyers argue that the Supreme Court’s decision confirmed a position the defense raised earlier in the case that prosecutors should have been precluded from introducing some evidence they said constituted official presidential acts, according to the letter. In prior court filings, Trump contended he is immune from prosecution for conduct alleged to involve official acts during his tenure in office. His lawyers did not raise that as a defense in the hush money case, but they argued that some evidence — including Trump’s social media posts about former lawyer Michael Cohen — comes from his time as president and should have been excluded from the trial because of immunity protections. The Manhattan district attorney’s office declined to comment Monday night. The Supreme Court on Monday ruled for the first time that former presidents have broad immunity from prosecution, extending the delay in the Washington criminal case against the Republican ex-president on charges he plotted to overturn his 2020 election loss. Trump was convicted in New York of 34 counts of falsifying business records, arising from what prosecutors said was an attempt to cover up a hush money payment to a porn actor just before the 2016 presidential election. He is scheduled to be sentenced in the hush money case on July 11. Merchan instituted a policy in the run-up to the trial requiring both sides to send him a one-page letter summarizing their arguments before making longer court filings. He said he did that to better manage the docket, so he was not inundated with voluminous paperwork. In denying Trump’s bid to move the trial from New York state court to federal court last year, a federal judge found that the allegations at the center of the case pertained to Trump’s personal life and do not “reflect in any way the color of the President’s official duties.” “The evidence overwhelmingly suggests that the matter was a purely a personal item of the President — a cover-up of an embarrassing event,” U.S. District Judge Alvin K. Hellerstein wrote in the ruling. Sisak contributed from Fort Pierce, Florida.

“The misuse of cutting-edge generative AI is accelerating the proliferation of dangerous content, including child sexual abuse material — so the Department of Justice is accelerating its enforcement efforts,” Deputy Attorney General Lisa Monaco said in a statement. “As alleged, the defendant used AI tools to morph images of real kids into horrific child sexual abuse material.”
She added: “Criminals considering the use of AI to perpetuate their crimes should stop and think twice — because the Department of Justice is prosecuting AI-enabled criminal conduct to the fullest extent of the law and will seek increased sentences wherever warranted.”

Herrera is charged with one count each of transportation of child pornography, receipt of child pornography and possession of child pornography.
“Technology may change, but our commitment to protecting children will not,” U.S. Attorney S. Lane Tucker for the District of Alaska said. “We will aggressively pursue those who produce and traffic in child sexual abuse material, no matter how that material was created. Put simply, CSAM generated by AI is still CSAM, and those who sexually exploit children, through whatever technological means, will be held accountable by our office in conjunction with our law enforcement partners, for justice and the safety of our children.”
Executive Associate Director Katrina Berger of Homeland Security Investigations said: “Absolutely no child should suffer these travesties, and no person should feel immune from detection and prosecution for these crimes by HSI and its partners in law enforcement.”
Herrera was stationed at Joint Base Elmendorf-Richardson in Anchorage.
“This appalling misconduct undermines Herrera’s commitment to defending both our nation and its most vulnerable members,” Special Agent in Charge Robert Hammer of HSI Pacific Northwest Division said.
Anyone with information concerning Herrera’s alleged actions or may have encountered someone in person or online using the name Seth Herrera, contact the HSI tip line at 877-447-4847.

Aug. 26 (UPI) — An Army soldier stationed in Anchorage, Alaska, has been arrested on charges related to using artificial intelligence to generate explicit images of children, according to the U.S. Department of Justice. Seth Herrera, 34, was arrested last week. He is scheduled to make his initial court appearance on Tuesday before U.S. Magistrate Judge Kyle Reardon of the U.S. District Court for the District of Alaska.
Advertisement If convicted, he faces a maximum penalty of 20 years in prison. He allegedly transported, received and possessed files depicting child sexual abuse. Herrera used online AI chatbots to generate realistic child sexual abuse materials depicting minors known to him, including infants, prosecutors said.

Complicated app settings pose threat to user privacy “The misuse of cutting-edge generative AI is accelerating the proliferation of dangerous content, including child sexual abuse material — so the Department of Justice is accelerating its enforcement efforts,” Deputy Attorney General Lisa Monaco said in a statement. “As alleged, the defendant used AI tools to morph images of real kids into horrific child sexual abuse material.” She added: “Criminals considering the use of AI to perpetuate their crimes should stop and think twice — because the Department of Justice is prosecuting AI-enabled criminal conduct to the fullest extent of the law and will seek increased sentences wherever warranted.”
Advertisement Herrera is charged with one count each of transportation of child pornography, receipt of child pornography and possession of child pornography. “Technology may change, but our commitment to protecting children will not,” U.S. Attorney S. Lane Tucker for the District of Alaska said. “We will aggressively pursue those who produce and traffic in child sexual abuse material, no matter how that material was created. Put simply, CSAM generated by AI is still CSAM, and those who sexually exploit children, through whatever technological means, will be held accountable by our office in conjunction with our law enforcement partners, for justice and the safety of our children.” Executive Associate Director Katrina Berger of Homeland Security Investigations said: “Absolutely no child should suffer these travesties, and no person should feel immune from detection and prosecution for these crimes by HSI and its partners in law enforcement.” Herrera was stationed at Joint Base Elmendorf-Richardson in Anchorage.
Advertisement Last year, the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children received 4,700 reports of generated AI child porn, including deepfakes of real children to extort them. Earlier this month, a Florida man, Phillip Michael McCorkle, 38, was arrested after allegedly using AI to create child pornography, and distributing them using the social media platform Kik, the Indian River County Sheriff’s Office said. In March, Google paused its AI image-generator after Gemini depicted America’s founding fathers and Nazi soldiers as Black. The images went viral, embarrassing Google.,

‘Tell Me Lies’ Cat Missal And Tom Ellis Praise Intimacy Coordinator’s Role In Steamy Bree And Oliver Scenes: “It Makes Intrinsically Uncomfortable Stuff Slightly More Comfortable” Jimmy Kimmel taunted Donald Trump on Live after the former president was blocked yet again from using another artist’s music for his presidential campaign. After staunchly defending Rachael ‘Raygun’ Gunn’s controversial break dancing performance at the Olympics, Kimmel turned his sights to another “accomplished dancer,” Trump, whom he jokingly called “Ronald Raygun.” Kimmel explained that Trump “has not yet issued an apology to any of the artists whose music he’s been playing at his rallies without permission. “A number of musicians, including Rihanna and The Rolling Stones, sent Trump a cease-and-desist. They said, stop playing our songs,” he said. “A judge yesterday ordered him to stop playing the song ‘Hold On I’m Coming’ at his rallies.” The estate of Isaac Hayes, who co-wrote the song for the duo Sam and Dave, filed a lawsuit against the Trump campaign claiming it infringed their copyright and should pay damages, per the Associated Press. He laughed at the title along with the audience before adding, “He can still play it with his porn stars but the rallies, no.” While VP Kamala Harris got permission from Beyoncé to use her song “Freedom,” Kimmel pointed out that Trump is stuck using “Fish Heads” by Barnes & Barnes. “I can think of no two words that describe the Trump presidency more precisely than ‘fish heads,’” Kimmel joked. A post shared by Jimmy Kimmel Live (@jimmykimmellive) Kimmel took several shots at the former president during his opening monologue Wednesday (Sept. 4) night, including an entire clip segment of Donald Trump stuttering and mumbling at his rallies. The late night host also aired a clip from a recent interview where Trump denied that he ever attended Jeffrey Epstein’s island, saying, “I’m not involved, I never went to his island… fortunately. A lot of people did. But fortunately, I was not one of them.” Kimmel asked the audience, “Am I nuts or does he sound disappointed?” As the audience laughed, he did his best Trump impersonation as he said, “Fortunately, it came really close. Wanted to go, heard it was a lot of fun. Fortunately, I couldn’t make my schedule work out.” This week marks Kimmel’s first week back on late night after taking a summer hiatus. Jimmy Kimmel Live airs on weeknights at 11:35/10:35c on ABC.
